ABOUT CAT
I BELIEVE YOUR BODY DESERVES OPTIONS—NOT ANOTHER REASON TO FEEL LIKE A PROBLEM.
I’m Cat Garvey. I was a teacher before I became a therapist, and now I’m bringing both parts of my work back into the same room.
For more than a decade, I taught dance and movement. I also taught in classrooms, including kindergarten and ESL. Later, as a psychotherapist, I worked with LGBTQ+ adolescents and adults around trauma, identity, relationships, boundaries, and the complicated business of becoming more fully yourself.
Therapy taught me how much insight matters. Teaching taught me that knowing something is different from being able to do it. This work combines both: clear emotional education, embodied practice, a little irreverence, and enough repetition for a new response to become available when you actually need it.
I built it for the space between knowing and doing: the strange, funny, uncomfortable place where you understand the pattern and still have to practice another way of being.
This is educational work. It is not psychotherapy, diagnosis, medical treatment, or crisis care.
